The Epitaph of the Marquis De Sade

for Madelaine

Robert Denis Don
the Marquis choked himself to death on a rosary
the abbe' raped the corpse of Madelaine..not only in his dreams
then he cut out the tongue of the Marquis and put it into a bottle
before he went insane
He kissed the lips of death
....blood ran down the eyes of the Christe'
the abbe' begged for a quill, parchment and ink
as he clutched the throat-de le docteur
from the window of his asylum cell
as Charenton was burning
the drama of the revolution went on and on
until Robespierre found his way-to the steps
and the Guillotine
Emperor Napoleon issued his last edict en merde
for the Marquis
who wrote his very last novel..in the same
oh Madelaine,oh Madelaine
your virgin death before even kissing the abbe's lips
the marquis was writing for you-if you had only known
He wrote upon parchment
until the abbe' took it away
with his ink and quills
He then wrote upon his bed sheets
for only you who he loved so much
and after all of his paintings and furniture and wines were taken away
he proceeded to write upon his only clothes with a wishbone
until they were removed
and he was left alone in his dank chambers-in chains
and then he wrote upon the walls
of his Charenton cell.......
with his own blood
Leaving a legacy only to be carried on by the abbe'.
